ANTIGUAS PORTADAS DEL BARRIO DE LAVAPIÉS (MADRID) / Antique façadas of the neighborhood of Lavapies (Madrid)

Resumen: Las portadas de las casas particulares son un símbolo de poder económico de su propietario. En Madrid se han conservado magníficas portadas decoradas desde el siglo XV, pero al mismo tiempo también se han conservado portadas más austeras pero nobles. En el barrio de Lavapiés existen una serie de portadas en piedra con inscripciones que indican la fecha de la misma. A través de este post mostraremos algunas de estas portadas más llamativas con la historia de sus propietarios.

Summary: The façada of the private houses are a symbol of economic power of the owner. In Madrid have been preserved magnificent decorated façadas from the 15th century, but at the same time it has preserved more austere but noble façadas. In the neighborhood of Lavapies there are a number of façadas in stone with inscriptions indicating the date thereof. Through this post we will show some of the most important façadas and the history of their owners.

CONFERENCIAS Y RUTAS CULTURALES POR EL MADRID DE EMBAJADORES / Conference and Cultural Routes around the Embajadores’s Madrid

El barrio de Embajadores de Madrid es una de las zonas más populares de la ciudad que guarda una parte muy importante de la historia y la tradición de Madrid. El Rastro de Madrid, la arquitectura tradicional de las corralas, las calles de Lavapies, el barrio del gran arquitecto barroco Pedro de Ribera, las famosas Escuelas Pías hoy convertidas en espacio de educación donde tiene su sede la UNED Madrid, el Museo de Artes y Tradiciones Populares, el chotis, los Manolos, Beatriz Galindo «La Latina», y así un sinfín de iconos, historias y personajes aguardan este barrio encantador.

Gracias al programa Embajadores en positivo en colaboración con el Centro Cultural de Lavapies, se van a organizar una serie de visitas guiadas y conferencias que ayuden a conocer este singular barrio madrileño y en las que tengo el orgullo de colaborar e invitar a quien quiera a participar de ellas.

The neighborhood of Embajadores in Madrid is one of the most popular places of the city. It has a really important part of the history and tradition of Madrid. The Rastro of Madrid, the traditional architecture of the «corralas», the Lavapies streets, the neighborhood of the great baroque architect Pedro de Ribera, the famous Escuelas Pías that today was transformed in an educational place where UNED Madrid has its center, the Arts and Popular Traditions Museum, the chotis, the Manolos, Beatriz Galindo «La Latina», and thus an endless numbers of icons, histories and people are a relationship with this lovely neighborhood.

Thanks to the programme «Embajadores in positive» with the colaboration of the Cultural Center of Lavapies, it going to organice some guide visits and conferences which it helps to know this singular madrileño district and I have the proud to colaborate in them.
